Google Launch UK Street View

Google has recently launched its Street View mapping service in the UK, first providing the 360 degree views across 25 cities. During my donder about local streets I found that Google had also managed to capture within that… the Zen Elements logo!!

Knowing that Google would at some point be mapping Britain for Street View, I wanted to try and find the date(s)/times(s) that the Google cars would be mapping Dundee so that I could purchase some marketing space along the routes they might take.

It turns out I didn’t have to trouble myself at all and while it is only very subtle, the Zen Elements logo is officially on Google Maps, UK Street View.

To explain, I borrowed a little space on some friends cars – and laptops ;) – to create a little brand awareness for Zen Elements and before you ask, no, there were no direct sales came in from this however that is not the key point of a ‘brand awareness’ strategy. Well, it so happened that my friends car was present at the time the Google car mapping Dundee drove past and so it is official, we’re on UK Google Maps, Street View.

If you believe these images to be Ps’d – and lets face it, I could easily do that – go and take a look for yourself by searching ‘Zen Elements’ on UK Google Maps.

Finally, a little poll

This poll is not indicative of just the UK but of all areas mapped by Google Street View.

How do you feel about Google Street View?

    Nice work.
I spent a while on Google Maps UK Street view looking for something like that, i got nothing of course.
Nice idea with the brand awareness. I think it’s more important for smaller businesses. Everyone knows the big companies by now, surely.
You have now been immortalized by Google Maps. Well, for a good few years.
